I am a Baptist minister from the UK, who had the privilege of being President of the UK Baptists (2015-16), and the Vice-President (2015-17) and President of the European Baptist Federation (2017-19).
Within all of my ministries I have had a determination to help women achieve their potential, and find ways to change or circumnavigate the factors that keep them from flourishing. I am aware how the misreading and misuse of Christian Scripture can validate the system of Patriarchy within society and church. Since completing my term of EBF President my aim has been to find multifaceted ways to empower women and to stand against violence, coercion and prejudice in any form.
Currently I am continuing to work on the 4-day course INVEST, an empowerment course I have written for women, which was piloted in Madrid in 2022-3, and which is now being run by the local team. Using my Baptist contacts in Europe I hope to run it elsewhere over the next two years.
Alongside CNEDA member, Valerie Duval-Poujol, I was instrumental in initiating a Global Resource Website, wwwstandagainstdv.net, which we compiled alongside other global partners.
In addition, Valerie and I are writing a Learning Network Course on Domestic Violence for the International Baptist Seminary in Amsterdam. Their aim is to raise awareness and train others to work within their churches and societies with the many women and families who are affected by this.
